The Virtual Weave

June 12-14, 2020

I have been attending the annual Spiritweavers Gathering in Cave Junction, OR for the past 3 years and also attended for one year when it took place in Navarro, CA, where I usually teach workshops on Making Knotted Net Water Bottle Bags, Cordage Fiber Plants & Stringmaking, Wild Foods and Soapstone Beadmaking.

I also host an IUD Awareness information and discussion table.

Since the gathering could not take place in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions, the organizers instead put together and incredible online conference using a platform called HopIn, which was pretty cool and very well suited for such a large virtual gathering.

Since, each instructor could only present on one topic, I chose to host a discussion called IUD Awareness: Are They Really Safe?.

This discussion focuses on an important topic to which I have been devoting a large amount of time and resources following my own personal experience with a copper Paragard IUD, which shattered my health and almost cost me my life.

Five and a half years ago, Tamara experienced dramatic and life shattering health issues as the result of a copper Paragard IUD and has since that time has been helping others find much needed answers and support through “IUD Awareness”.

With over 20,000 members the IUD Side Effects Group on Facebook is an incredible place to find support and information from a community who have been through it and who really “get it”.

Spirit Weavers Gathering is a five day celebration of cultures past,  a remembering and practicing of basic human skills to ensure the survival of the body and the soul. Fermenting foods, weaving, dying fabrics, creating ceremony, sharing meals at night and dreams in the morning, drinking tea, and making plant medicines- singing songs, together as a community- these were the common knowledge ways and part of the simple pleasures of a life lived in balance and harmony with nature. Let us gather together as Women and share our skills in remembrance of the beauty path and an honoring of our Ancestors.
